Bring Sunshine: Bake a Wish

Bake a Wish – Bake a Wish was founded on the idea that every child deserves a birthday cake.  Bake a Wish’s team of 25 kid bakers makes 1,000 cakes per year for children in homeless shelters. In addition to having a beautiful mission – they have intense quality control.  Each cake must look a specific way – it must be on a cardboard cake round, presented in a bakery box and it must be PERFECT.  

In the beginning we must have thrown out 2 cakes for every one we sent over.  Thankfully, we have it down to a more precise science – the four of us set up a factory line in our kitchen each time our cakes are due.

If you wish to give to Bake a Wish – to help support the work they do, they provide their team of bakers with the professional bakery boxes, cardboard cake rounds and kits for beginners.  Any extra support from donations goes to supplies as well as cookie parties – this is when we (the bakers) get to decorate cookies with some of the kids that we bake for.
